Burned Biscuits

First of all, I didn't write the following, but received it in an e-mail from my Sister-in-law, a very nice lady.

But I thought it should be shared with the World so here it is, hope you enjoy it.

*******

Burned Biscuits -- author unknown

When I was a kid, my Mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every
now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she had
made breakfast after a long, hard day at work. On that evening so long
ago, my Mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and extremely burned biscuits
in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed! Yet,
all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my Mom and ask me how
my day was at school. I don't remember what I told him that night, but
I do remember watching him smear butter and jelly on that biscuit and
eat every bite!

When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my
Mom apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I'll never forget
what he said: "Honey, I love burned biscuits."

Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if
he really liked his biscuits burned. He wrapped me in his arms and
said, "Your Momma put in a hard day at work today and she's real tired.
And, besides a little burned biscuit never hurt anyone!"

Life is full of imperfect things and imperfect people. I'm not
the best at hardly anything, and I forget birthdays and anniversaries
just like everyone else. But what I've learned over the years is that
learning to accept each others faults - and choosing to celebrate
each others differences - is one of the most important keys to creating
a healthy, growing, and lasting relationship.

And, that's my prayer for you today. That you will learn to take
the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of your life and lay them at the
feet of God. Because in the end, He's the only One who will be able to
give you a relationship where a burnt biscuit isn't a deal-breaker!

We could extend this to any relationship. In fact, understanding is
the base of any relationship, be it a husband-wife or parent-child or
friendship!

"Don't put the key to your happiness in someone else's pocket -
keep it in your own."

So, please pass me a biscuit, and yes, the burned one will do just fine.

And, PLEASE pass this along to someone who has enriched your life.

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting
some kind of battle.

"Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil - it has no point."

BE OF GOOD CHEER!

If you’re unemployed this is the time of year when it is terribly difficult to find a blessing!

Everywhere you go, you see signs of festivities of the season, but the season seems fairly bleak at your house.

Be of good cheer!

Blessings come when you least expect them!

It may be just a phone call from an old friend checking to see how you’re doing.

It might come in the way of a lead to a job that you are perfectly qualified for.

You could even be driving through the parking lot of your nearest grocery store, and see something lying on the ground, stop to investigate, and discover it’s a twenty dollar bill. That happened to me recently!

Blessings come when you least expect them, and from sources you’d never expect them to come from.

Be of good Cheer!

Remember this by an unknown author:

“Your world is between your own two ears. Everything that you create, you create in your head. You have a choice whether you want it to be good or bad. But remember, the universe is always trying to bring you GOOD.”

CREATE GOOD IN YOUR HEAD, AND YOUR BLESSINGS WILL OVERFLOW!

I wish you the blessings of a happy, prosperous holiday season no matter what you celebrate, or how you celebrate it.

BE OF GOOD CHEER!

A fourth Indicator of a stroke

INFORMATION EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW........................

Blood Clots/Stroke - They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, the Tongue

STROKE:Remember the 1st Three Letters....S.T.R.

If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.
Seriously..

Please read:

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) .she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned u p and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening

Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR . Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S *Ask the individual to SMILE.
T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. It is sunny out today.)
R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: A nother 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

I have done my part. Will you?

You don't have to be Catholic to celebrate Lent

I'm a member of Unity.

Every February, I receive a booklet from Unity "Spiritual Preparation for Easter".

It's pages are filled with daily thoughts about the Lenten period. 40 days of beautiful writings which help me come closer to "GOD".

I don't know about you, but I see 'GOD' in everything around me.

I see GOD in a flower petal, a blade of grass, and in what many would call weeds.

I see GOD in clouds, and the blue of the sky.

I see GOD IN YOU, AND ME.

I hear GOD in the songs of a bird, the chirp of a cricket, and out of the mouths of people.

18th day of lent, from Spiritual Preparation for Easter

"During these weeks of preparation for Easter -- a day of great joy and reawakening --I will remain alert to the light of faith that shines within me. I will follow my guidance, accept my calling, and stay on the path that leads me to my highest good."

Practical Suggestions

  • Learn more about the many programs
    rescue missions offer to help
the homeless and other needy people. If you always thought they just worked
with "skid row" drunks and "bag ladies" this will be a real eye-opener!

Rescue missions that are members of
the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions offer immediate food and shelter to
the homeless through their
emergency shelters. Many offer long-term rehabilitation programs that deal with
the root causes of homeless. Many also offer "tickets" that can be given to
homeless people which can be exchanged at the Mission for a nutritious meal,
safe overnight lodging, and the option of participating in a rehab program.

Support the AGRM financially by
making a donation using your credit card. (For additional information about
making a gift, call (800) 624-5156 or e-mail us at:
agrm@agrm.org)

Pray for the homeless.

Exposure to the elements, dirt, occasional
violence, and lack of purpose all drain years from a person's life. God can use
your prayers and the brutality and the futility of life of the street to bring
many of the broken to Himself.
